Course aims & objectives

  • Newly qualified nurses
  • Those moving from secondary care
  • In post for less than 1 year

The course aims to offer a variety of learning approaches that will significantly minimise time out of practice.

These approaches will take the form of:

  • Online resources
  • Simulation
  • Self directed learning
  • Workplace learning
  • Workshops

The objective is to assist the student to become safe clinical practitioners with the general practice team.

Students need a mentor in their practice to support the achievement of relevant competencies.

Relevant specialist practitioners will deliver interactive learning sessions 

A competency driven framework will use a portfolio to embed knowledge and clinical skill development in the workplace.

A Practice Nurse Online Forum will support students to reflect on practices.
